Our Programs and Services Division (PSD) is recruiting for multiple fact-finding Investigator's for their Driver and Vehicle Investigation team!


The Department of Licensing is one of the most public facing state agencies and the second largest revenue generating agency in Washington State. Duties

As an Investigator, you will be an integral part of this successful team. Using your investigative abilities, you will be conducting objective investigations into driver license/identification card fraud using Facial Recognition System (FRS) and take equitable and appropriate administrative action. Using your customer service expertise and your ability to effectively communicate will be valuable to support victims of identity theft and identity fraud by providing education and guidance to further safeguard their identity. Furthermore, you will evaluate the disclosure of images and records to law enforcement agencies for qualifying requests and assist with identifying fraud mitigation strategies in systems and processes.



Some of what you will do:



  • Create investigation files with the information and research.

  • Write chronological reports containing substantiating facts and documents.

  • Conduct address abuse investigations.

  • Provide vital assistance to stakeholders and customers regarding explanation or interpretation of agency programs, policies, procedures, WACs and RCWs and management decisions.


Qualifications

What you will bring:



  • Two (2) years of relevant experience gathering and substantiating facts using investigative duties as follows:

    • Researching and analyzing records and developing case files.

    • Obtaining statements of fact or depositions.

    • Writing reports to establish proof of facts to be used in a court or administrative hearing.

OR



  • Two (2) years of relevant college-level course work with emphasis in law or one of the criminal justice disciplines or directly allied field, may be substituted for the required experience for all but one year of the required investigative experience.


Experience may be obtained concurrently.


Education to experience equivalency

Associates degree = 2 years | Bachelor s degree = 4 years | Master's degree = 5 years


What may help set you apart:

  • Experience using Microsoft Office software.

  • Ability to write investigative reports clearly and chronologically.

  • Ability to learn internal computer software programs quickly. (DOL DRIVES, Omnixx, facial recognition)

  • Experience working with diverse customers, co-workers, or subjects of an investigation.

  • Ability to defuse hostile situations.

  • Experience using techniques for communicating and asking questions in a way to enhance clarity, information flow and reliability of the information.

  • Experience analyzing information based on knowledge of law, policies, or procedures.

  • Ability to safeguard confidential information.
