Budget title: Staff Assistant (SL-2)
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Binghamton University is a NCAA Division I institution in the America East Conference, located in Binghamton, NY with 21 intercollegiate athletic teams. Binghamton University is currently seeking two Athletics Academic Advisement Assistants as part of the Visions Center for Student-Athlete Excellence team.
The Assistants will work under the close supervision of the Associate Director of Athletics-Student Services and NCAA Compliance to assist in the day-to-day operations of the Visions Center for Student-Athlete Excellence.
Duties And Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

Binghamton University is currently seeking two Athletics Academic Advisement Assistants as part of the Visions Center for Student-Athlete Excellence team.
The Assistants will work under the close supervision of the Associate Director of Athletics-Student Services and NCAA Compliance to assist in the day-to-day operations of the Visions Center for Student-Athlete Excellence.
Duties And Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- For assigned sports, monitor the academic progress of student-athletes, including schedule building and course selection, academic planning and recovery plans, the assignment of tutorial support, grade checks, coordination of travel letters, and the monitoring of progress towards degree and continuing eligibility requirements.
- Provide timely and accurate reports on the academic status of assigned student-athletes to the Associate Director of Athletics-Student Services and NCAA Compliance, coaches and selected institutional staff.
- Effectively manage all working professional relationships, including regular and consistent contact and communication with student-athletes, coaches, staff, and faculty, when appropriate.
- Make necessary and appropriate referrals to campus support resources.
- Participate in the recruiting process by meeting with prospective student-athletes in assigned sports.
- Provide information to student-athletes, coaches, and staff regarding institutional polices, academic requirements and NCAA DI athletics eligibility.
- Assist with the review and submission of academic data for NCAA, America East Conference, other affiliated conferences, and Binghamton University reporting requirements.
- Assist with new student-athlete orientation programming, the tutoring program, and other relevant academic enrichment programs.
- Must work in compliance with university, federal and NCAA guidelines on the confidentiality and protection of student records.
- Execute other relevant duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Athletics-Student Services and NCAA Compliance as needed.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail.
- Experience working with diverse populations and in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work collaboratively and effectively with other staff, student-athletes, coaches and administrators and be able to work in time sensitive and pressured environments.
- Ability to work weekends and evening hours on occasion.
- Master's degree
- Experience in assisting with academic advisement in a higher education setting/athletics department.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
