Why youll love this job- This position will proactively analyze all aspects of operational performance, covering a wide variety of both strategic and operational analysis. The intern will work to understand and troubleshoot operational challenges and deliver performance improvement. The goal is to delineate the execution versus the structural drivers of operational performance for American Airlines.
- The role is a part of the Operations Analysis team within our Operations Performance group.
- Mines, models, analyzes and evaluates operational data to identify root cause factors impacting network reliability
- Provides alternatives and/or recommendations for corrective action
- Quantifies the anticipated gains to be achieved by the recommendation
- Presents findings and delivers recommendations to the operating groups and senior management
- Monitors and tracks operational performance and delay information
- Provides periodic reports to the operating departments focusing on trends and anomalies
- Seeks out action plans and recommends corrective action to improve operational performance
- Develops the next generation planning and analysis algorithms and systems
- Designs and implements data mining and machine learning algorithms to analyze trends on very large volume of data
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Operation Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Math, Computer Science or related field
- Experience using data analysis and quantitative modeling techniques (e.g. statistical, optimization, simulation, spreadsheet) to answer business questions and to assess the added value of recommendations
- Knowledge of data retrieval languages such as R/Python and SQL
- Knowledge of reporting and data visualization tools and techniques (e.g. TABLEAU, COGNOS)
