  • The Specialist, Visitor and Retail Experience is responsible for delivering a best in class visitor experience while continuously driving revenue opportunities to support the CR Smith Museum. You will be in charge of managing all aspects of the Museum Store, including merchandise buying, visual merchandising, processing sales, reporting, and advising on product strategy, while also coming up with new/different strategies to position the Museum store better and to seize revenue opportunities.

  • The job is part of the External Business team within our Corporate Communications divison.

What youll do
  • Manage front-of-house visitor experience

  • Welcoming visitors and customers

  • Problem solving issues to customer s satisfaction

  • Leading the team s thinking on how to continuously improve visitor experience at the Museum for all segments, also tying into campus experience

  • Scheduling and supervision of store staff

  • Manage museum retail operation

  • Point of Sale (POS) cash register operation including cash and credit card transactions, bank deposits

  • Fulfil phone and e-commerce orders

  • Continue to run research and analysis to improve product strategy and assortment, including licensing and partnership opportunities

  • Responsible for product inventory buying: managing inventory levels, searching for new merchandise, ordering, processing, stocking, updating e-commerce store

  • Analysis and reporting: Complete reports for stakeholders, leadership, Accounting and beyond; tracking KPI s

  • Visual merchandising: update displays regularly to attract visitor attention and drive sales

  • Drive opportunities to improve visitor experience and/or drive sales through collaboration with colleagues or across campus

  • Support fundraising/development

  • Create/continuously improve record keeping, reporting and analysis

  • Support prospect research, development of proposals and other materials

  • Help organize cultivation/stewardship events and direct mail campaigns

  • Assist with special requests

  • Work Schedule: Tuesday-Saturdays, with flexibility

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent experience/training

  • 4+ years experience in retail, licensing, fundraising/development, marketing or related field

  • Must be able to stand for long time periods, bend and lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Knowledge of POS reporting, upgrading, retail merchandising and website development.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft office software (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)

  • Use of Customer Relationship Manager/Salesforce software

  • Experience with brand licensing, retail buying function

  • Spanish speaking
