The Role
The Quality Engineering Technician will work closely with Quality Engineering to provide reports, charts, graphs and anything else needed to define, measure, analyze, improve and control product and process quality from their respective shops. The successful candidate must have mechanical aptitude, the ability to meet tight deadlines, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail oriented and be able to both take direction and work independently. Responsibilities
-Lead the organization and completion of Quality trials working with Quality Engineers and Quality Techs.
-Support new line validations with Quality Engineers.
-Lead product tear downs for root cause analysis.
-Drive the creation and maintenance of Quality Instruction documents.
-Support Quality Engineers in root cause analysis of materialized quality issues.
-Work closely with manufacturing, process, and suppliers to establish processes and procedures that will ensure consistently high quality.
-Maintain, update, and validate product and quality plans and control plans.
-Leads line to line root cause issues/solutions to increase and maintain quality metrics and performance.
-Develop and implement daily process/line specific audit plans for Quality Technicians. Compile and review results with cross-functional teams.
-Serve as the on-shift subject matter expert (SME) for process and product specifications that define quality in assigned areas.
-Assist Quality Engineers during fault injection exercises.
-Assist Quality Engineers in management of Issue Tracker actions to resolution.
-Assist in the identification and resolution of manufacturing quality issues, contain parts or products as needed, sort parts for quality requirements.
-Support training and coaching of quality technicians on root cause issues/problems and best practices for corrective action implementation and countermeasures.
-Lead/Participate in continuous improvement activities with Process Technicians/Engineers Manufacturing Engineers and external suppliers.
-Take part in ongoing optimization of manufactured products with respect to both cost and production technology.
-Analyze and interpret high failure product data independently, effectively escalating/root causing fall-out alongside line Quality Technicians.
-Direct potential problem preventative action on quality defects based on increased data metric fall-out rates and failed lineside products.
Requirements
-Level 3 Technician or higher. -Experience with quality systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
-Experienced in ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA preferred.
-Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices, 5S, TPS, TQM, etc highly desired.
-Strong aptitude with electronic test and measurement systems.
-Proficiency at reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams
-Knowledge of GD&T engineering drawings.
-Ability to lift and sort parts.
-Ability to effectively communicate common issues and defects to leadership and management assisting with solutions.
-Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment providing line leadership and guidance.
-Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
-Ability to pull and manipulate data in SQL, basic statistical knowledge (capability, t-tests, etc.)
-Ability to use technology tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data.
